Agent You: Be Your Authentic Self
Authentic - of undisputed origin; genuine
Nicole opens this chapter and speaks about her first NFL Scouting Combine, during this time she wanted to dress down and wear sneakers or do her usual thing and wear heels. She made the decision to go with wearing her heels and be herself instead of someone else.
This chapter meant alot to me as an individual who struggled with being authentically themselves and not caring, it took me a long time for me to embrace who I was. Growing up I did not know who I had the potential to be. I was the girl who stayed in the shadows of those around her. I was never authentically me.
“Winning on your own terms means showing up everyday as you.”
Lynn gives us a MAJOR KEY ALERT (in my DJ Khaled Voice), and ask us What Does Being Your Authentic Self Look Like?

Creating your own lane in industries, situations, and places that were NOT created with you in mind.
Be OKAY with taking up space.
Don’t be intimidated by situations and people that seem “too big”.
Make decisions for your life on what you want, not what others want.
Understand that not everyone will like you.
Show up everyday as you, NO KOSHER. But do you know who you are? What’s your “me statement”? Here’s mine:
I, Maya Howard, am a black woman who believes in Jesus Christ. I stand for women’s rights and equality, and I am against racism. Assisting young black men and women and helping others are important to me. One day, when I am no longer here, I want to be remembered as a loving individual who always did right by others. Someone who lived in her dreams and walked in her destiny.
To get tips to write your own personal me statement read this chapter! Look out for Chapter 4!
