Every day individuals ask me what made me want to work in sports, the answer could simply be REPRESENTATION. Honestly, I'd rather give them a long answer.

Historically, football is a sport where the majority of the players who make it professionally are of African American Descent. In fact, 57.5% of the National Football League is African American. Not only advocating for black men but also advocating for Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), only 10% (34 out of 354 inductees) of players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame attended HBCUs. As of 2021, only 18 players from HBCUs are on an active roster for an NFL team. Tennessee State University (my beloved alma mater and the BEST HBCU known to mankind) has produced the highest number of HBCU football players (121 to be exact!) to make it to the league.

As a woman in sports, I want to inspire women, end the stigma, and change the game. I want to be like Nicole Lynn and learn to win on my own terms, I want to be like Dawn Staley and break the status quo, Theresa Phillips and lead others to greatness, Sage Steele and Take Up Space (but I mean this in a good way obviously). All this to say….I am Maya Howard. I WILL be a Sports Agent. I WILL represent some of the BADDEST, COLDEST, BEST athletes in football, I WILL advocate for & I WILL pave the way for women who may come after me, l WILL change the game.

REPRESENTATION is the action of speaking or acting on behalf of someone or the state of being so represented.
