Imposter Syndrome - collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success.
This chapter was probably my FAVORITE chapter in Agent You. I won't write too much, because I want my readers to interpret this chapter for yourself. Nicole talks about attending the NFL Draft in 2019 with her client Quinnen Williams. She talks about not only being the only FEMALE NFL Agent in the greenroom but also being the YOUNGEST agent in the room. Imposter syndrome set in.....but I'll let you read the chapter to ultimately find out how and how she dealt with it.
Lynn later goes into checking the tribe of people around you, that her tribe believed in her when she didn't even believe in herself. From experience, your tribe is your greatest asset. I have days where I think I am in over my head and I have no idea what I am getting myself into and then one of my friends, parents, or siblings say to someone "Yeah Maya is going to be a Sports Agent someday." The people you pick and surround yourself with play a major role in your dreams.
Lynn further encourages us to be CONFIDENT in who we are. As a woman, as a black woman, the table was not made for us to sit at. She poses the question.....
"How can we ever break the glass ceiling by trying to fit in, when we were made to stand out?"
